    2011 Baptist Men's Day

Baptist Men's Day is an excellent opportunity to recognize the men in your church and the contributions they make to the church's mission and ministry efforts. Men who provide godly leadership and biblical counsel should be commended and encouraged. Those who lead exemplary lives should be acknowledged and their contributions celebrated. You will find  a few ideas here, but you are certainly not limited to these resources in recognizing the men in your church.

Because the observance of Baptist Men's Day now falls on Father's Day each year, your church may need to make an effort to recognize the single men in your congregation, too. These men should not be forgotten in your plans to recognize the work of men in the church.

    Courageous is coming

One way to encourage your men on Baptist Men's Day would be to show a trailer for the Courageous movie during services. The film will open on September 30. You can encourage your men to see the film together or in groups. View movie trailer and scenes.

Begin to cast the vision for your men to be involved in the preparation for the debut of the film and the follow-up after the release. A church Father's Day promotion for the film may be obtained here.

Consider pre-screening the movie. A list of dates and locations can be found here.

    Father's Day Sermon

Another way to honor men is through the message that pastors will bring on BMEN Day. Larry Wynn, a former pastor and current vice president for evangelism for the North American Mission Board, has written a tremendous sermon to encourage laymen. The sermon can be used as an outline and pastors can substitute their own illustrations and examples.

    Father-Son Event

If you are looking for an event model for something beyond Sunday services, A Few Good Men father-son gathering is one way to do that. The event focuses on the importance of men mentoring young men, and fathers mentoring their sons. Learn more about the event by reading the event plan.
